The Scarlet Letter is available in two forms: You should first try the text form. It is a small file (530 kb) and fits on a floppy disk, but it has problems displaying the formatting with some word processors. The html form is a larger file (2,880 kb) and will not fit on a floppy disk, but it looks more like pages from the book.
Tess of the D'Urbervilles is available in text form.
