Roosevelt Elementary School is named after President Theodore Roosevelt and is the proud home of the
Rough Riders. Roosevelt school serves a a diverse and integrated school community, located near the Mission of Santa Barbara, in California. We have a strong community of parents, teachers, staff, and local businesses working together to educate our students.
The classrooms are housed in a beautiful, mediterranean-styled, two-story building which was completed in the 1999-2000 school year. The new building has a state-of-the-art networked 32-station computer lab and an art/science room.
We promote and support academic excellence, together with the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing
of each child. Roosevelt’s mission is to:
- guide students to understand, honor, and respect diversity
- provide students with the skills necessary to participate in a technological world
- teach students to be problem-solving, self-reliant, confident, and responsible citizens
- create and maintain a safe, positive, and rigorous academic environment
Roosevelt’s academic program includes:
- A comprehensive reading program for students at all levels
- Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) for identified students in grades 3-6 in core language arts and mathematics, as well as enrichment via a school news program
- A Learning Center which provides academic support to students with exceptional needs
- Discipline-based Art Education emphasizing art history and criticism, as well as, studio art
- A 6th-grade trip to Outdoor School
- Participation in Los Marineros, a marine biology program developed by the Museum of Natural History
- After school programs
- An Instructional music program
- PTA-sponsored cultural and arts assemblies and field trips.
