Islam Project It is expected that parents or other adults may help with your project, but remember that you must do at least 75% of the work yourself
DUE DATE APRIL 26 ( Late work will receive no higher than a C- grade )
                            The internet and our textbook are helpful but YOU MAY HAVE TO USE THE LIBRARY TO GET SOME INFORMATION If you want to do an Islam Project :
CHOOSE 1
1. BUILD A MOSQUE - make it about 24"x 24". ( click here for examples)
    *It should be a model of a real mosque. (NO LEGGOS,PLASTIC OR MANUFACTURED PARTS)
    * It should be firmly attached to a neat, colored base
    *The BUILDING should be white or grey or colorful, depending on the mosque you select.
    *Include as much detail as possible -arches, designs, pillars, towers , etc.
    * Write a 1 page report using your own words explaining
         A. the purpose of a mosque and
          B. name and explain its parts. (Click here for Mosque Grading Scale)
2. BUILD A MOBILE [hanging art] - (click here for examples)
   The grade will be based on the quality of the information, the pictures , the
    captions - USING YOUR OWN WORDS, and how neat and artistic the mobile is. (Click here for Mobile Grading Scale)        Use 5 symbols of Islam and
               5 symbols of Christianity and
               5 of Judaism.
    Make the symbols large (about 4" ) and colorful. Be creative
    **Each symbol must have a written explanation attached to it explaining its name and
           importance to the religion

3. BIO-POSTER The grade will be based on the quality of the information, the appropriateness of the pictures, the print quality of the captions , and how neat and artistic the poster is.(Click here for Bio-poster Grading Scale)
     *Choose an important Islamic leader between 630 AD and 1600 AD (use about 2 inch high letters
for the leader's name)
    *present the information about the person's life with captions using your own words,and colorful
     pictures. Fill up the poster with at least 10 large pictures (detailing the person’s
      life) which can be clearly seen from the back of the room. Mount the pictures on colorful
      backgrounds

4. Create an ISLAM/CHRISTIANITY COMPARISON POSTER The grade will be based on the quality of the information - Using Your Own Words, the appropriateness of the pictures, the print quality of the captions , and how neat and artistic the poster is. (Click here for Poster Grading Scale)
You can get good information for your captions about Islam from your class notes and from the textbook.
*Show a picture of the Koran (with a caption explaining what it is) centered on one side surrounded by 7 Islamic symbols and explanations (think of these as definitons not just one word titles) for each symbol,
*Show a picture of the Bible (with a caption explaining what it is) centered on the other side surrounded by 7 Christian symbols and explanations(definitions) for each symbol. Make all the pictures colorful and large enough to see from the back of the room.
