HAIKU - JAPANESE    POETRY

You must write four haiku poems.  Each haiku consists of three lines:  first line has five syllables, second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables.  Most haiku are about nature and set a mood.  Be sure to begin each line with a capital letter and punctuate with a period at the end.
After you’ve written the poems, illustrate each one, in color, on a 12x18 inch piece of white construction paper.  Be sure to title each haiku and place your name and period in the bottom right hand corner of the front of the paper.
You will be graded on accuracy of the syllables, how much sense your poems make, your illustrations, titles, neatness, and creativity.
