Textbook = Medieval to Early Modern Times
RULES FOR BEHAVIOR 2011-2012
BE PROMPT - Be on time for class
( Tardy = not in your assigned seat when the bell rings= a "RED CARD"
which is a lunch detention
BE PREPARED - Bring needed materials every day (notebook,
paper, pencils, pens, homework).
BE POSITIVE – Give encouragement to others. Have a
good
attitude.
BE POLITE – Be sensitive to the feelings of others.
BE PRODUCTIVE – Use the entire class time for work or
study. Complete assignments on time.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Class activities are written on my chalkboard every
day with
instructions or due dates for projects/ homework. Write in your
planner’s
calendar the assignment name and its due date. Many assignments,
and all projects, will have an instruction handout which you can take
home. However, some handouts CANNOT go home without the
teacher’s approval.
Absent students must make up work . If the teacher
is not in the
classroom before class starts, please wait calmly outside as a class
until the teacher enters the room. Enter calmly,
quietly, and take out materials you will need. Check the
chalkboard for information or instructions. Your class seat is
assigned to you and recorded on a seating chart. Occasionally I make
changes, please cooperate with those changes. Class is dismissed
when the teacher releases
you.
Bathroom Pass – Depending on class activity, I may limit when
or how often a student leaves class to go to the bathroom or get
water. Emergencies are treated as they occur. Permission must be
given, then sign out on the yellow form and use the school hall pass.
The following
activities I DO NOT allow in my
class:
1.Excessive talking / socializing instead of being on task
working /
talking out of turn – blurting out opinions or being rowdy
2. Teasing
students physically or verbally
3. “playing"- including rough physical play, and distracting
noises
4. Eating /drinking in class (water is ok, no gum or food )
5. Playing with toys /reading magazines/working on class work for
other subjects during class without permission
6. Not responding to immediate instructions
7. Disrespectful attitude
8. Swearing is not allowed at school . Other words I consider offensive
or excessively negative are:
“shut up”, “sucks”,
“jerk”, “idiot”, “stupid”,
“nerd”,
God’s or Jesus Christ’s name used disrespectfully
9. CHEATING =copying
ANY work
from another student’s textbook
questions,quiz/test,worksheet,or essay
10. It is against school rules to mark on a desk or chair, or in
textbooks and teacher materials CONSEQUENCES: depending
on
the
seriousness or timing of the problem :
1. I may give a verbal warning or give a "refocus" form to be
filled out, or a partially filled out detention
meant
to stop the problem,
2. I may send the student outside class.
3. I may give the student detention or referral to the office
When a detention is assigned I will fill out a
detention form and hand it to the student. The student must get their
parent/guardian's signature and return it to the teacher the next
school day. An additional day will be assigned for each day a properly
signed detention is not returned.
4. For Cheating I may destroy all the papers of those involved and
allow students to complete the work again at lunch under my supervision
for reduced credit, or I will give a
ZERO.
