Project (50 Points)

All projects must be done for homework. Outside help
(parents,grandparents,
siblings,etc.) must be limited to NO MORE than 25% .The student must do
at least 75% of the work. You have 1 month to complete your project. If
you finish the first project before it is due, you may do another different
one for extra credit.
PROJECT REMINDER
Full
credit is given on the date due. A maximum
grade of C- if the project is overdue.
Your choices are listed below:
CHOOSE ONE
** For the following projects you must have a 1 page written report
in blue or black ink or typed attached to your project, telling what
your
project has to do with ROME. For example: how did they build or
make it, why is it important to Rome, where would Romans use it,what
kind
of people used it, what purpose did it serve? etc.
Roman Building or Structure or Armor

You may build a Roman arch, coliseum, pantheon,
acqueduct, circus, theatre,
villa, ROMAN fort, battering ram/seige tower,chariot, helmet or
Roman armor, Roman
kitchen, or Roman street scene from the Roman time period currently
being studied. Your completed construction should be no bigger than
your desktop and no smaller than 18 inches square.Try to include as
many
details to make it realistic. Be sure it is painted or colored
appropriately.
It will need a base to sit on which should also look decorated or
colored. DO

Masks- MAKE 2
 
Make Roman Comedy and Tragedy masks. They should be a
little
larger than face size.They should look like pictures we have of ROMAN
masks.
See Mr.Carlton for handouts. Color the hair to symbolize which
character
the mask represents (red for slaves,black for young men,grey for old
men).

Ship
    
Build a model of an ancient Roman ship at least 14 inches long
.
Color it and include designs to represent an ancient merchant or war
type
Roman ship with sails. No points will be given for a plastic
or
pre-formed or store- bought ship/boat. See more designs on the Project

Mosaic
  
Glue a mosaic from small bits of materials, such as tile, construction
paper, eggshells, macaroni (beans and rice do NOT stay on very well).
It
must be a multicolored (at least 4 colors) ROMAN design and at
least
18 x 18 inches. Have a colored mosaic border which surrounds your
mosaic.
In your written report explain how mosaics were created in Roman days,
what materials they used, where mosaics would be put, and what the
design
you chose has to do with Rome.More examples are on the Project
